Biography

My name is Sydney Donovan and I’m from Cape Elizabeth, Maine, which is right outside of Portland. I’m 19 years old and a freshman at the University of Maine in Orono in the New Media program. I have had only a little experience with working with the different types of media that we are exploring. As of this summer, I am very familiar with the program Past Perfect right now, which is a digital archiving system that I used at the Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland to showcase ephemera and create a website for it. My interests involve film, photography, archiving, and video game design. I have always found a passion with design in three dimentional forms like in character design particulary. Hopefully in the New Media major in Orono that I will be able to unearth even more interests within the span of the next four year.

Creative Statement

I’m very interested in technology and how art can be incorporated with it.
I feel like there is more to be done with new media that’s exciting- like design, programming, which has inspired me to delve into what New Media has to offer. Particularly graphic design, or level design, is what I’m interested in more so, but with a course like this I’m not restricted to one thing.
